Buyer guide · Checked 30 August 2026
This guide helps buyers shortlist AEO agencies by operating model, technical depth, content and authority execution, evidence quality, category fit and public price. It presents first-party sources, useful strengths and diligence questions without treating a vendor's self-ranking as independent research or declaring one provider universally best for every organization.
Disclosure: Humenta is an AEO provider. We do not rank Humenta first or assign scores because no independent, reproducible cross-provider outcome dataset is available.
Ask for surfaces, methods, prompt corpus, repetitions, denominators, failures, retained evidence and provider limitations.
Separate audit slides from engineering, CMS access, release ownership, schema quality, rendering and post-release verification.
Define research, expert input, originality, word or format expectations, fact review, client approval and the right to reject weak work.
Diligence link sources, payment, disclosure, editorial acceptance, forum identity, permanence and platform-policy compliance.
Request named baselines, date ranges, denominators, analytics source, attribution rule, exclusions and whether a third party verified it.
Industry, geography, sales cycle, product data, regulated claims, languages and buyer questions can matter more than generic reach.
Confirm tenant and data boundaries, access, approvals, audit trail, retention, deletion, security review and escalation.
| Use case | Providers to evaluate | Why they enter the shortlist | Key diligence question |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transparent full managed service | Humenta AEO, AEO Engine, Reach, Trailblazer | Public scope or pricing and execution across multiple workstreams | How are quality, authority targets and any guarantee defined? |
| Enterprise technical AI search | iPullRank, Nectiv, BrightEdge | Deep retrieval, technical, entity, governance or enterprise SEO systems | Which changes does the provider implement versus advise? |
| B2B SaaS editorial authority | Minuttia, First Page Sage, Reach, Nectiv | Category expertise, thought leadership and long-form B2B content | How are AI visibility and pipeline separated from conventional SEO? |
| Earned media and full-funnel growth | Avenue Z, NoGood, Humenta AEO | PR, distribution, content and broader growth activation | Which placements are earned, sponsored or partner-distributed? |
| Focused AEO transformation | BetterAnswer, AEO Engine, Humenta AEO, Trailblazer | AEO-first positioning, monitoring and structured implementation | Can the baseline and endline be independently inspected? |
| Commerce answer visibility | Stackline, Azoma, BrightEdge | Retail demand, product data, SKU visibility and commerce publishing | Does the scope cover product data, the company entity, or both? |
Monitoring, prompt tracking, audits and limited workflow. Your team usually owns implementation, PR and authority.
Focused audit, content, optimization and reporting, often with narrower prompt, site or authority scope.
Technical, content, authority, PR, specialist and larger monitoring programs over a meaningful operating window.
Multi-brand, multi-market, regulated, platform-heavy, commerce-specific or senior embedded programs.
These are market inferences from current public examples, not a universal rate card. Scope, term, pass-through costs, billing cadence and currency matter more than the headline.

A percentage with no denominator, cohort, date range, source or attribution rule is marketing evidence, not a forecast.
An official API can be useful, but it does not automatically reproduce the consumer product experience.
If every generated page must publish, quality, originality and trust will lose to a quota.
Undisclosed sponsorships, planted endorsements, fake reviews and deceptive forum activity create legal and reputation risk.
Google says no special AI file or schema is required for AI features. Faithful fundamentals matter.
A vendor can publish a useful category guide, but calling itself best is not independent validation.
We reviewed the competitor set, official provider sites, current pricing where public, product documentation, methodologies, terms, case-study patterns and AEO Engine's comparison network.
We reviewed AEO Engine's self-published agency ranking. It provides a useful firm taxonomy but does not expose the complete raw data, per-company arithmetic, scorer identities or reproducible prompt observations behind its #1 placement. We did not reproduce that ranking.
